What is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)?
A Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) is a different type of senior care facility that can provide the right care at the right time. At Mount Carmel Senior Living, residents can move into independent living units with their own bath/shower and kitchenette. You can choose to make your own meals or participate in the dining services for an additional fee. You can choose to make your own meals or for a small fee partake in the dining services. This makes the transition from home a lot easier for most folks.
At the same time, a nurse is always nearby for support and care. Continuing care means as a senior’s needs progress, Mount Carmel Senior Living Community can deliver more care. When it’s time for more attention, residents can transition to one of our Personal Care homes which are staffed 24-hours a day. Residents who require a higher level of care than Personal Care can smoothly transition to the skilled nursing level of care.
Residents who require a higher level of care than Personal Care offers have skilled nursing care available to them. The Continuing Care Retirement Community model here at Mount Carmel allows us to care for your loved one through just about every stage of need.
Rehabilitation Services at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community
Physical Therapy: Improves muscle strength and coordination following injury or illness. We focus on mobility — moving safely in bed, getting up and down from a chair, walking, or negotiating stairs, ramps and curbs. Physical therapy also can help control or alleviate troublesome symptoms, like swelling or acute and chronic pain.
Occupational Therapy: Good for anyone who, due to illness or injury, has lost some of his or her ability to perform important life functions like eating, bathing and dressing, as well as ordinary activities such as cooking, doing laundry and playing games. Occupational therapists might suggest helpful devices — or show different ways to perform these tasks — to make them easier and less tiring to do.
Speech Therapy: Helps people who have suffered a stroke or other injury to re-learn how to communicate by speaking, reading or writing. Speech therapists also will assist those who have difficulty chewing or swallowing during meals, and they can help improve memory skills so that the person can perform tasks like managing medications or getting help in an emergency situation.
Levels of Care at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community
Short-Term Rehab: Our short-term rehab care helps people recuperate and heal following surgery, illness or injury. You’ll found Mount Carmel a lovely place to get well with a range of therapeutic services to help accelerate healing and recovery.
Long-Term Care: Mount Carmel Senior Living Community is a warm and welcoming place for our treasured elders to live when living alone isn’t practical anymore. Our CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community) allows residents to enjoy more independence and privacy when practical, but extra support levels are close at hand when required. We also provide assisted living, 24-hour nursing and onsite doctor visits.
Personal Care: If a senior’s level of care needs increases, assisted living provides 24/7 access to medical and custodial care. While residents are encouraged to be as independent as possible, staff members are available to help with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, or medication management. Assisted living may take the form of private or semi-private apartment-style accommodations.
Independent Living: This often is the first step in a resident’s life at their CCRC. Active, healthy older adults enjoy the CCRC amenities and maintenance-free benefits, all while living unassisted in their choice of residence.
Skilled Nursing Care: Skilled nursing care includes 24/7 medical and custodial care. However, skilled nursing focuses on short-term care and rehabilitation. For example, residents needing post-surgery wound care, physical or speech therapy after a stroke, or intravenous medication administration would reside in the CCRC’s skilled nursing care unit.
Outpatient Rehabilitation: Benefit from our expert care and rehabilitative services while you live at home. When you’re recovering from an illness, surgery, or injury, you may need outpatient rehabilitation. This means you’ll get one or more types of therapy after you leave a hospital or clinic on an outpatient basis.
